About

Awards-winning care for veterans and their families

Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes Provide skilled nursing care for our veterans in five locations, with one more under construction.

At Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes, we consider it a privilege and our responsibility to provide exceptional care and support to those who honorably served our country, as well as their families. Whether you or your loved one is looking for rehabilitative therapy services, long-term care, or short-term skilled nursing care, our team of healthcare professionals is specially trained in providing the physical, emotional, and mental support veterans may need.

While we work closely with the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) to assist eligible veterans with accessing federal funding for their care, we are independent of the VA.

Our homes are governed by the Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes Board, with members formally appointed by the Governor. Oversight of the day–to–day management and operations of the State Veterans’ Homes is vested in the Executive Committee of the Board. The Executive Committee exercises its authority for planning, implementation and operation of the State Veterans’ Homes through the Executive Director and his or her staff. Administrators at each facility are responsible for the day–to–day operation of the homes.

Established in law by the General Assembly in 1988, our first home opened in Murfreesboro in 1991. Since then, we have established locations in Humboldt, Knoxville, Clarksville, and Cleveland, with a new home under construction in Arlington.

Our Mission

Provide optimal quality of care for our veterans, through rehabilitating residents to the maximum attainable level of independent functioning and providing 24-hour clinical oversight.
Enhance quality of life through promoting socialization and participation in our impressive activity programs both on campus and off.
Exceed the needs of those we serve through providing individualized care to the resident by encouraging both the resident and their family to have an interactive role in making decisions.
Offer residents accommodations that foster comfort, dignity, and self-respect.
