JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for maintaining attractive and clean floors by using designated chemicals, supplies, and equipment (e.g., brooms, mops, buffers, vacuums, wet vacuum, extractor, shampoo machine, stain remover) on a regular basis throughout the facility, including resident rooms. Follows a daily, weekly and monthly floor maintenance schedule, as designed by supervisor; bends, lifts, sits, stands and moves frequently throughout the shift; deals with frequent interruptions and possibly upset residents and family members; works regularly scheduled shifts with possible weekends, holidays and other hours based on resident needs; participates in required continuing education programs; may be exposed to odors, falls, burns, blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Will assist housekeeping, maintenance and other departments with facility cleaning, trash removal, outdoors cleaning, user-level maintenance on facility and equipment and other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in floor work or housekeeping at a large establishment; health care experience preferred. Use of large equipment such as an extractor, scrubber, carpet cleaner, and a buffer is required. Experience cleaning with various flooring types is a plus.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred; previous long-term care experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
